What's wrong with "The Emperor of Ice-Cream"?

… [Suggestion] | Twenty Little Poems That Could Save America, by Tony Hoagland | Harper's Magazine. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

I don't think that poetry should aim at saving America or anything else. And "The Emperor of Ice-Cream" has always seemed to me to be a sweet poem, a funeral service for a doll, maybe, the ice cream easing a child's loss perhaps?
