And Washington today...

If there is an underlying theme, one that Leibovich returns to between parties, it is Team Obama’s transformation from an above-it-all, apolitical wonkfest, at least in self-perception, into just another administration, where conflicts of interest are rife, lobbyists proliferate and outgoing staffers quickly sell out (although no one in Washington sells out anymore; they monetize their government service).

  1. As a native and resident, might I point out that Washington, DC, has three electoral votes, same as either of the Dakotas, and has one non-voting delegate to the House of Representatives, same as Guam and Puerto Rico. Out of the 539 voting and vetoing folks here in town, we contributed modestly to the election of two, and one of them gets to vote only to break ties in the Senate.

But I like the bit about "Mike Allen, of Playbook fame". I never heard of Mike Allen before today, that I know of.

The on-line version, by the way, is sloppily cut down from what appeared in print. There is a dangling reference to a "Tammy" who gets a paragraph or so in print.
