In case you wondered …

How do you know if 'bad' art really is bad? | OUPblog. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

There is a Van Gogh in the Barnes Collection that strikes me – and a good many people besides me, including some pretty good artists – as a very bad painting. As for Kinkade, I think I know why some people like his paintings. The problem is, the reason has nothing to do with painting.

  1. While I'm not a fan of his light paintings, I loved his impressionistic city paintings. Gloomy, rainy day stuff that seemed as good as any the French painters did.
