I don’t share Orwell’s socialism a bit, even though it is much more understandable from the viewpoint of someone surviving the 1930s and the war than it would be today. But I love him despite that … Because he was so much more than ideology. And so much more than just a writer.

I feel much the same way, and I enjoyed an advantage he didn't: I was born and raised poor.
