Bess Lovejoy


I've just finished Bess Lovejoy's book about death and dying. But don't worry, it wasn't too bleak. Lovejoy entertains with a range interesting stories focused on the unexpected afterlives of famous corpses - those belonging, for instance, to D.H. Lawrence, Edgar Allan Poe, Descartes, Moliere, and more. I'm interviewing Lovejoy for a piece in Rain Taxi and will post that link when the interview is complete. For now, be reminded that the tomb of Joseph Haydn actually contains two skulls, and that, even in death, Lord Byron was thought to be "built like a pony." The legend persists...
