I wonder if apocalypticism would be as popular if more people knew that the apocalypse means revelation and that the book so-called that concludes the Bible has, in fact, a happy ending — a new heaven and new earth. Interesting, though, how what absorbs the human imagination is the destruction of this world that Revelation foretells.
