Cruel and unusual …

Up to a Point: They Made Me Write About Lena Dunham - The Daily Beast.

Ms. Dunham is 28. I was under the impression that “girls” is a demeaning term for adult women. The title must have something to do with this hipster “Irony” thing, which I confess I don’t understand. The root of the word irony is in the Greek eironeia, “liar.”

  1. This is both hilarious and disturbing!

  2. As usual, P.J. O'Rourke is amusing and insightful.

And I am 62 with a daughter about the same age as the girl in questions...

  3. Entertaining. Yet I can't help but remember that one of the first pieces I read by P.J. O'Rourke, in the old National Lampoon, involved the narrator tying down his girlfriend with silk ties that had gone out of fashion. People smirked when the widow Scarron became Mme. de Maintenon, and then Louis XIV's prudish wife. What would happen if Lena Dunham organized readings of P.J. O'Rourke's writings from his younger, rambunctious days?

  4. Hi George,
That could be one way for her to postpone her sell-by date.
