I just read William McKeen's "Mile Marker Zero: The Moveable Feast of Key West," which covers Williams' time in Key West. The book also covers other writers who lived on the island, such as Hemingway, Hunter S. Thompson, Tom McGuane, Jimmy Buffet and Tom Corcoran. I visited Key West in the 1970s and as a sailor and diver (and yes, a drinker), I was in Heaven. I had a great time on and under the water and I had a great time in the bars. Paul
