In case you wondered …

How Do the Unwealthy, Non-Sponsored Find Time to Write? | BREVITY's Nonfiction Blog.

Back in my freelancing days I supplemented my income in all sorts of ways — art gallery manager, office manager, working on construction crews building stores, etc. All of it very interesting and useful in more than just economic ways.

  1. In 2015, I have managed to write 500 words of fiction each day despite my present circumstances. I snatch 50 words on a subway ride, catch 100 words while waiting for an appointment, and make up the balance at the library. I spend much of the day thinking about it. Faulkner wrote AS I LAY DYING late at nights while toiling by day. If one wants to write, there is nothing that will stop the writer. The true sponsorship is not financial. It involves ensuring that the soul is hungry and the routine is carried out.
