At 8pm Sunday, September 20th the Pen and Pencil Club will feature the poetry of g emil reutter, David Worrell, and Adriann “the Pen” Bautista. An open mic will follow hosted by Robert Zell. g emil reutter lives and writes in the Fox Chase neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA. Nine collections of his poetry and fiction have been published, most recently a collection of short stories, Thugs, Con-Men, Pigs and More, released in 2014. His tenth release, From the Valley—Poems will be released in 2016. Dave Worrell’s first chapbook, titled “We Who Were Bound” was published in August 2012 by Casa de Cinco Hermanas Press. His recent work includes ekphrastic poems inspired by paintings by Catherine Kuzma. Dave’s poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Canary, U.S. 1 Worksheets, Mad Poets Review, Exit 13, Wild River Review, Fox Chase Review, Adanna and The Casa de Cinco Hermanas Journal. He has performed his music-backed poems at Chris’ Jazz Café in Philadelphia and The Cornelia Street Café in New York.
Adriann “The Pen” Bautista a native of Philadelphia, PA, is a Playwright, Poet and Grant Administrator.
She has four Christian play productions to her credit; “My name is Struggle/ Victory”; “Sister, You Better Change your Hat!”; “Don’t you know, He rose & He lives!”, and the most recent “RESTORED”. Her plays, warmly received have been tools of ministry in Chester, Philadelphia & the Morton area of Pennsylvania. Those who have experienced the messages of hope through these stage productions all agree that they have been life-altering and inspirational. Adriann has expanded her gift to poetry since Nov. 2009. She has published two Chapbooks entitled “Ballad of a Beautiful Brown King” and “Sister Strength”. In 2010 she also published a full length book of poetry entitled “Sanctuary of Snow” available on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com. Adriann has read her life poetry at many venues throughout the Tri-State Area beyond at First Friday on Vine, The Clef Club, Panoramic Poetry, Fox Chase Reading Series, Jus Words, Moonstone Arts Center, Fiyah Spitaz (NJ), Beso de Azure Poet’s Paradise (VA), and Spit Fire Poetry Fest (NJ), The Art of Conversation-Philly, The Black Historical and Cultural Showcase, Coffee after Dark at Teaful Bliss Cafe- Phila, Coffee After Dark at Wired Beans Café, Wordflow at Aprons and Moonstone Creative Arts Center- Poetry Ink.
