Risk Analysis

For Judith Fitzgerald

Somewhere between

Rapture and despair

Lies the region most prefer
Inhabiting, feeling at home

There, playing it safe, willing

To forfeit one to be spared

The other, learning too late

Escaping despair means

Taking a chance on rapture.
