Hmm …

… Anthrocene Fictions: Grim news from Cape Grim puts Australians on alert; gives boost to rise of ''cli-fi'' novels Down Under.

All previous vexing environmental issues had a hard target identified as causing the problem -- usually a naughty corporation or a government. Every way we look at climate change we see that the big problem is us. There are, of course, the coal corporations, but climate change is caused by a huge myriad off factors, all of them pointing back to the load that industrial human society imposes on planet Earth.
Actually, climate change is caused by climate. Climate is governed by a non-linear dynamic. It is a chaotic system. Of course, it is true that certain factors can affect climate, and human activity has certainly been a factor in extending the length of the current Holocene Epoch. It is doubtful, however, that it will indefinitely extend it. Solar activity, cosmic rays, and the like will exert an effect as well. If more people were apprised of what things would be like should Earth revert to Pleistocene Epoch conditions, they might be less concerned about warming trends — and they could whip up some really scary fiction.
