The death of comedy …

  1. While there's a wider point to be made about PC culture and our climate of censure from humorless types, this guy doesn't know contemporary comedy at all. Bill Burr regularly gets into trouble (and there's a great video of him heckling a Philly crowd a few years ago which is ballsy), Maria Bamford takes chances, Louis CK appeared on SNL and made a joke about child molestation, Iliza Shlesinger and Kathy Griffin are regularly irreverent. That's just off the top of my head.

  2. Well, it's nice to know there are still some out there. But we do seem to live in a humorless age. I still remember Lenny Bruce's appearance on the Steve Allen show. His opening gambit was, "Sorry I'm late. I hit one of things in the street, what do you call it — a kid."

  3. I was wondering if the refugees can really be called invaders, as Bruce Bawer does.
