… Bright man, big writing: McInerney's masterpiece reconsidered.

  1. Jonathan Yardley, when book editor of The Washington Post, wrote of cocaine as "that enemy of God, the family, and the American novel". Bright Lights suffered less than some one could name from the syndrome, and I thought it a decent novel when I read the copy my son brought home. But McInerney's masterpiece?
