Name your favorites …

 Solitary Praxis: Help Wanted: building a reading list of Historical Novels.

I can't really be of help here. I guess Robert Louis Stevenson's The Black Arrow is a historical novel, and I loved that. I remember reading Thomas B. Costain's Below the salt when I was in high school. There's Rafael Sabatini's Scaramouche. And I reviewed a novel by Barry Unsworth that might qualify — The Ruby in Her Navel: A Novel of Love and Intrigue in the 12th Century. I'm sure there were others I've read, but those are all that come to mind.
