Good for them …

 Univ. of Chicago pushes back on trigger warnings, safe spaces | Intellectual Takeout. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

Our commitment to academic freedom means that we do not support so called ‘trigger warnings,’ we do not cancel invited speakers because their topics might prove controversial, and we do not condone the creation of intellectual ‘safe spaces’ where individuals can retreat from ideas and perspectives at odds with their own.

  1. Brown University's safe room “with cookies, coloring books, bubbles, Play-Doh, calming music, pillows, blankets and a video of frolicking puppies”! Gah... Let's all retreat from war and racism and exploitation and terrorism with our cookies (oh wait, what about obesity?) and Play-Doh.
