Sigh. Why do people need this much?

  1. Who should decide how much wealth anyone needs?

  2. Whoever it may be, R.T., it ought not be those eight alone.

  3. I'm not asking anyone to decide R.T. -- I'm more curious about what kind of mind could devote itself to accumulation while ignoring the needs of others.

  4. Sidebar: Yesterday I drove by several huge, elaborate churches, and I wondered why Christians need such expensive edifices when the money involved might have been better spent; then I realized something -- I must live my own life according to Christian principles and cannot (should not) spend so much time griping about other people's principles.

  5. Judge not, Tim; If your neighbor has been given ten coins and you one, deal with it; etc. I think Jesus said a lot about looking at others but not yourself, the principle sin of the Pharisees, for example. And the Vatican keeps all of its art and treasures, it says, in trust for humanity, rather than seek and disperse the proceeds.
