A poem for today in the northeast …

… Informal Inquiries: "The Snow-Storm" by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

And let's not forget Snow-Bound: A Winter Idyl.

  1. You may be witty, Frank, but the guy who wrote Snow-Bound: A Winter Idyl is Whittier.

Also, how about a modern one:

    Snow Day, by Billy Collins

  2. Hi Rus,
I did know. If I gave the impression I thought it was by Emerson, it was unintentional. I just wanted to link to another classic snow poem.

    1. No, not at all. My mother is from Amesbury MA, where Whittier lived. The saying that, "You may be witty, but the man who wrote Snow-Bound is Whittier," was a common witticism back in the day. I can see now that I awkwardly shared it.

  3. No, I think was so tired out from my second snow-shoveling of the day that my brain shut down. Whittier is often a better poet than he is given credit for being.
