Interesting thought …

Informal Inquiries : Novels: antidotes to opinions and ignorance.

I tend to read things for the sake of reading them, not for any therapeutic reason. Right now I’m reading Willa Cather’s The Song of the Lark. It takes me away from the annoyances of the day and offers a vision of life that is deeply satisfying. I rather suspect that contemporary political dogmatists are immune to any antidote to closemindedness.

  1. Frank, you remind me that I am perhaps overdue for an infusion of Cather; she does have a way of immunizing me from the toxicity of the real world.
