I detested Rabbit, Run and did not read the subsequent novels. This is not really a criticism of Updike or the books, but a kind of grudging praise. I just did not like Harry Angstrom. Updike brought him quite vividly to life, so vividly, in fact, that I wanted to have nothing further to do with him.
