The most dangerous condition for a man or a nation is when his intellectual side is more developed than his spiritual. Is that not exactly the condition of the world today?
Given the way that Doyle was fooled by the photographs of purported fairies, I'd say that he might have done better to nourish his intellectual side to give some balance to his spiritual longings.
