These, are, as I expected, largely or all students from China. Not to protest would be bad for their careers back home; to support the kid from Hong Kong might be somewhat dangerous.
Let me add the clarification that I find such behavior wrong. However, I think it unfair to draw inferences about the behavior of American college students from such a case.
