Sanctimony galore …

Establishing a Community News Desk to address long-standing shortcomings in how our journalism portrays Philadelphia communities, which have often been stigmatized by coverage that over-emphasizes crime.

 Well, Ms. Hughes, here’s another one-year-after fact: the homicide rate in Philadelphia is 33 percent higher than it was this time last year, meaning the city is on target to reach well over 500 homicides before year’s end. That’s called news, which is supposed to be the business of a newspaper. When I want a sermon, I go to church. Looking forward to your thoughts when The Inquirer folds.
