… Take a Walk. (Hat tip
“When we take a walk outside, the fractal rhythms of our heart synchronize with the fractal rhythms of our lungs and our fractal gait. Researchers have also shown that our wandering bodies make our minds wander too. On a walk, our brain waves slow down. The underlying spontaneous fluctuations bubble up more easily, creating experiences of spontaneous thoughts and associations that seem to come from nowhere. We often call them “moments of inspiration.”
I think I can honestly say that I have walked thousands if miles. My idea of a vacation was to rent a cabin and hike the Loyalsock Trail. I routinely walked Philly’s two great parks — the Pennypack and Wissahickon — the former is nine miles long (though I would have started at Frankford Avenue, which made my walk about 16 miles round trip (I just looked this up; it never seemed that long to me. To me it seemed a wonderfiul watpy to spend a day by yourself).
Have you seen Redford & Nolte in A Walk in the Woods? Worth watching.
