As a former medical editor, this does not surprise me. The reporting on Covid is some of the worst I have ever seen.
As a former medical editor, you ought to be asking some questions before rushing to embrace the paper--questions like

2. Were the criteria for the screening process of the 24 studies selected for review sound?
3. Was there any publication bias, for example striving for a counter-intuitive or possibly contrarian position?
4. Is it appropriate to exclude mortality rates over time?
