Rand’s earlier works, while always wedded to her ideas, are far more readable and human—and leave little doubt that she was a writer of extraordinary if idiosyncratic talent.
I have always thought that Gary Cooper’s somewhat robotic performance as Howard Roark in the film version if The Fountainhead, got the character down perfectly.
