Surprise, surprise …

Massachusetts health department admits 'significant overcount' of COVID-19 deaths — and the number could still be much too high.

  1. This is double checked by excess deaths anyway. The count is always low, whether it is a miscount or not, and can be inaccurate one way or the other from state to state.

Here's a recent article with good info: How did this many deaths become normal?. Up front it says, "At least 953,000 Americans have died from COVID, and the true toll is likely even higher because many deaths went uncounted." The most conservative actual death toll I have read put it at 22% higher from the NYT a year ago. Mid year last year, a study showed that it is considerably more than that.

No matter how much we might want to believe that less people died, it is well over a million of us in this country.

If we are to talk about Covid today, a study just came out confirming that it may be that, just as with heart damage, everyone who gets Covid, no matter how severe, gets brain damage.
