I won't write a history here of Richard III, but I will say that, for those interested in his reign, and in that tumultuous period of the English past, there is no better introduction than that of Rosemary Horrox. I read Horrox's biography over the course of three sittings -- and it's excellent: there's a real sense for the drama surrounding Richard and his ascent to the throne. This is as history should be: detailed and rigorous, but with a compelling narrative, and with a full appreciation for the characters involved. As I say, for an introduction to Richard, his kingship, and elements of the early Tudor era, look no further than Rosemary Horrox's work: it is superb.
