 Cabin Days

I

On the floor

Sunlight and shadows.

Nothing needs doing.

II

Green leaves all about.

Thunder overhead.

A steady downpour.

III

Even in the rain

The yellow daylilies seem

Awash in sunlight.

IV

The shiver of a leaf

Touched by raindrops.

V

At last

After three days

The sun rises.

VI

Listen to the leaves

Shaking themselves

Free of last night’s rain.

VII

Inside

Not a sound.

Outside 

One bird singing.
