How do I choose which books to review? By paying attention to what's going on around me -- such as the comment you just posted. I don't know Markus Zusak, but a quick check indicates that The Book Thief comes out in April and is published by Knopf Books for Young Readers. So I will alert Katie Haegele, who reviews Young Adult books for me, to the book and get a review of it. Thanks for the tip.
The Book Thief has been published in Australia as an adult novel, where it has been well received (shortlisted, for example, for the Commonweath Writers' Prize), although it's being issued in the U.S. as YA.
Hi Frank,
ReplyDeleteThat link isn't the Guardian's. Maybe this is the one you meant:

Yours,

Thanks, Rus. It's fixed now.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering how you chose which books to review in your column. A suggestion: Markus Zusak's 'The Book Thief'.
