Ah, those hobbits gave me lots of pleasure in my childhood. Even more than Frodo, I loved that Damn Fool of a Took (you know who he is, LOTR readers).
Did you know that before Tolkien's masterpiece ever hit screens (even before the dreadful first cartoon version), it was a popular radio play? Guess whose voice portrayed Sam Gamgee? Why *Bill Nighy*, of course, the British actor I will shamelessly plug every chance I get because he's brilliant, yet barely known in the U.S.
And my son's birthday. :) he's a Tolkein fanatic, so sharing a birthday with Frodo and Bilbo is a wonderful thing.
