Puh-leeze. I've read ol' Sam's diaries, too. Admittedly, I read them several years ago, but I didn't think he was abusing Deb and apparently she didn't think so, either: Why else would she encourage her husband to ask him for help with a job? (Had she felt abused, she doubtless would have encouraged said husband to beat up old Pepys and get his new waistcoat dirty.)
I did feel sorry for Mrs. Pepys, though, but not 'cause her wildly secretive husband was cheating on her, but because she so wanted to get pregnant and couldn't.

Thanks, Susan. Sam thanks you, too.
ReplyDeleteYeah. I'm just worried it's going to give new meaning to his most famous line, "And so, to bed." (!)
