I *love* it, you canny philosopher, you! Your descriptions of the "crystallized moments" gave me the phrase I'd been seeking to describe Banville's _The Sea_. I think that book is collection of such crystals.
Now I await Frank Wilson's Philadelphia Story. (And, hey, we may soon have *a lot* of time to indulge our creative writing, mon ami!)
