... what the reaction would be if groups in this country were pushing for Islamic creationism. Would it be the same as the reaction to ID? Or would we be encouraged to be tolerant of it - because, after all, at least it's not Christian?
the answer is tolerant for two reasons the first might be apparent to all the 2nd only to the believing Christian:
1. Many of the groups and people who currently object the loudest have a history of not wanting to be beheaded. It is highly unlikely that they will risk their skins for this. They will instead point to the agreement on the age of the earth and paint Islam as "open to science". The great exceptions will be honest men like Chris Hitchens who refuse to surrender their personal honor for safety.
2. If one assumes that Christian doctrine is true (that phrase doesn't mean to the exclusion of evolution ) then one must assume that there are two sides to an existing conflict going on in the world since the dawn of Man's awareness of good vs evil. Since the advance of Islam would further the side of the conflict that secular progressives support (either knowingly or unknowingly)it will be accepted.
To any Christian who understands or proports to understand Christian teaching; attacks on Christians in General and the Church in particular are part of the natural order of things and are not to be the cause of shock or surprise. They are to be accepted as crosses to bear and chances to defend the faith.
