Yes, the Kindle looks really appealing. I struggled with a demo Iliad e-reader over the summer. It tried to be so many things, as well as a book e-reader, that it was more than I wanted...or needed.
I just watched the video demo on Amazon and was blown away. Finally, something that works like a book, in sunlight even. Ah well. Maybe next year when the price comes down (hopefully the price will come down).
It seems not, Frank. There is a good review of Kindle here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSem8u9Iing A five-min YouTuble clip which explains the 2 dollar to read blogs feature plus other aspects, and compares with Sony and Iliad e-readers. Worth a look - certainly before shelling out your 299. My best Maxine.

ReplyDeleteAw shucks -- and it never was even offered to us Brits to buy!
ReplyDeleteThe Sony Reader also is fine in any light. But Kindle looks like it's better in other ways.
ReplyDeleteSomeone left a comment on Nature Network today to say that Kindle charges you to read blogs!
ReplyDeleteThe dastards! - unless, of course, they're sharing the loot with the bloggers.
