... so I may as well 'fess up: Readers Write: Maaaaaan, I’m Outta Here!
Yes, it's true. Friday will be my last day as book editor of The Inquirer. I will have more to say about this eventually, but for now I'm busy enough just trying to get the hell out. I feel immensely flattered to be called a sarcasm machine - and to be mentioned on Philebrity! I should have quit sooner.

Frank,
Assuming this is a retirement rather than something sinister, congratulations and good luck. (If it's something sinister, feel free to eschew the congratulations and keep the good luck.)
Godspeed, my unseen friend.
I'll second Mr. Miller's Godspeed.
I shall wait until you say more before cursing the Inquirer staff or congratulating you on a well-earned retirement. I will say I'm shocked! Didn't see this one coming.
Frank, good luck and Godspeed, my e-friend. It's been great having a Keystone Stater to chat with ..... it has helped me keep an even keel here, in Texas. I'm hoping that wherever, whatever you're doing from this point, you will still have a presence on the blogosphere
Please keep blogging - and reviewing!
A virtual friend is no less a friend. Thanks for everything, Frank.
I echo all the comments above, which you might think would sound cacophonous at first, but hearing it now in my little office, it's quite nice.
Again, Frank, many thanks and all best. Public thoughts are forthcoming.
Frank, you're too good for this business.
You will, however, be very much missed.
Best wishes!
Frank Wilson can be neither created nor destroyed, he's simply changing shape -- that's some law of thermodynamics, right? Good friend, you're too dynamic to disappear, so I hope/expect to soon be reading you on a private blog.
As a fairly recent Philly transplant, sad to see you depart our (official) literary scene so soon, but looking forward to more good stuff on the blog.
I'm speechless, Frank, and feeling pretty low here. You were always so generous to me, and you gave me (as you did many others) my start. I am wishing you all the best, with eternal gratitude.
Frank, allow me to echo Mark's sentiments and thank you for the opportunity you presented.
I'm stunned by this. And not in a good way.
Your spirits seem good, but this is terrible.
Just go someplace where we can find you, ok? ;)
I'm sad - you made the Philly Inquirer a special corner of the book world. I thought there must be something in the water there.
Anyway, you'll be missed.
Allow me a place in the queue.
Good luck and happy gardening!
Frank,
Your departure is a great loss to book lovers everywhere. Have a wonderful retirement my friend.
Laurie
This looks to me like one of those figure-ground problems: Is Frank the one hanging it up and sailing into the sunset, or is it the paper? Things being how they are, I'd lay even money that he's still bloviating long after 400 N. Broad's a condo and BT is back hustling hoagies outside of City Hall.
