... of my tenure as book editor may have occurred a week ago today, when I received this email from Christine Adair of Philadelphia's Family Court. I had donated several postal bins of books to them earlier that week. (Christine, by the way, knows I'm quoting her email.) She wrote:
I was going to a meeting yesterday and passed the waiting room for a court that has older kids attending. I asked if anyone wanted a book to read, and every kid followed me to my storage space. They too took their time and made several selections.
You made kids who have very little smile a great deal.
Some took enough to start their own libraries.
Now that's something to be proud of. It also demonstrates how important books can be.
So does this mean that the Books section is truly dead, Frank?
