Always a good idea ...

... Show Me the Science.

... which is one reason why We Need More Novels about Real Scientists. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

Which is to say scientists like Francis Collins or Freeman Dyson, people who have actually done science, as opposed to people like Richard Dawkins who only write about and use it to promote an agenda that has really nothing to do with science. Dawkins hasn't published a peer-reviewed paper in decades. I wonder if he's done any research at all.

  1. I would say we need more novels about the practical applications of science (i.e. technology) as well. There is a nice Brit website on this topic, http://www.lablit.com . Science and technology novels, however, don't seem to be anything the publishing gatekeepers are particularly drawn to, as I discuss in my own article at the LabLit site.
