Would it be picky to point out that the Poet Laureate in Britain is appointed for life, and the US Poet Laureate is appointed for a year?
Not at all. But Elizabeth Jennings might have been a good choice. And what about Stevie Smith? It's not as if England has wanted for first-rate poets who were women.
