'Sides, "things" don't write as beautifully as you consistently do. (And, you like many of the writers I like — e.g., Larry Watson just crossed my mind — plus, you always have a unique take on 'em, too.
Ah, style. One of my favorite comments on style, though not one I necessarily agree with, is Dashiell Hammett's, to a newspaper interviewer in 1956: “I stopped writing because I was repeating myself. It is the beginning of the end when you discover you have style.”
Aw, shucks. Incomparable? You should only know some of the things I've been compared to. But thank you.
