James Exposes The Big Choke's Ungainly Growth

There's just over a week left to see "Utopia/Dystopia", the 20-year-plus retrospective by Geoffrey James at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. For those who can't go, an exhibition catalogue of the same title (Douglas & McIntyre, 176 pages, $60) is available just about anywhere art books are sold. (The show closes Oct. 19.)

For further 411, check out the National Gallery of Canada webpage outlining both show and catalogue, in case you gotta wanna hafta come (or go).

p.s. Talk amazing synchronicities and / or signal moments: Peter Goddard, my mentor for many years in the art and crafting of journalism, published my first *anything* 10 October 1970 in The Toronto Star, a singular highlight for yours truly, my first appearance in print: "Poets" :). Got paid, became a professional, made a whole five bucks (CAN), LOL. So, yes, I love this man unconditionally; and, he's also one of the critics to whom I alluded yesterday in the passion of the moment (of which he would approve), the ace's ace who regularly scooped National Newspaper Awards. Just FYEYES :) . . .
