Massey Lectures 2008: Everything You Need to Know

Visit Paul Kennedy's CBC Ideas WebPage for the cross-country tour schedule this year's Massey Lecturer, Margaret Atwood, will undertake commencing 12 October on the east coast; and then, three short days later, 15 October, on the west. Ms. Atwood's new work, Payback, an inspired title, promises to provide readers with all the tools of the debt-trade from a unique POV.

Margaret Atwood writes: "These are not lectures about how to get out of debt; rather, they’re about the debtor/creditor twinship in the broadest sense — from human sacrifice to pawnshops to revenge. In this light, what we owe and how we pay is a feature of all human societies, and profoundly shapes our shared values and our cultures."
