Art, not sure if this is a good cover; but, it is the first sentence of David Markson's Wittgenstein's Mistress; and, as such, raises an interesting question, is there a better opening sentence for a novel than this? (Not in my books.)
The cover is an eye-grabber, so it works on that level. It certainly draws the eye; the marketing dept. should be happy. It may not be the best idea for a cover ever, but if the book is as radical as claimed, then a radical cover like this does match the contents.
Okay, I'm intrigued. One I'll probably want to find and read, and see if it holds up. Then I'll let you know if the cover was a great cover or not.
Wow. It is a great sentence, yeah.

Very cool. You won't be disappointed, Art, I promise; he's really an amazing writer; and, one of *his* staunchest supporters?
ReplyDeleteNone other than the irreplaceable David Foster Wallace.
