Weighing in ...

... on Horace Engdahl: Ig-Nobel Thoughts. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

What's overrated is the Nobel itself (unless, of course, you win it; that's a tidy bit of cash). Tolstoy, Joyce, Frost, Graham Greene, Henry Miller, Lawrence Durrell, Cavafy were all overlooked. And lots more. On the other hand, they didn't miss Gjellerup or Pontoppidan or Heidenstamm.
