... last evening's Latin Mass at St. Paul's went quite well. The Schola was excellent. At first the congregation was hesitant and tentative with the Latin responses. But by the end they were clearly feeling more comfortable. Most tellingly, after communion almost everyone was still there. Usually, lots of people walk right out after they receive communion. Not this time. I think the solemnity of the language and the music made them realize this really was a religious service and that a certain reverence was demanded.
