Good Beat, bad Beat ...

... Jack Kerouac's On the Road at 50: the Beat goes on. (Hat tip, Dave Lull, who sent it via this link to Bryan's blog: The Heart of Beat, where Dave also graciously links to a piece of mine about Kerouac.)

Mr. Landesman notwithstanding, I like Smoky and the Bandit and Barfly a lot better than Easy Rider, Thelma & Louise, and Wild at Heart. In fact, except for Jack Nicholson, Easy Rider is one of the worst movies ever made. The acid episode is completely phony, and I took enough acid to know.
