I agree with Wirkman ...

... Paglia, an odd’n, on Auden. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

I'd also include Auden's "Atlantis" and "Miranda."

  1. "Perhaps I am being harsh," writes Wirkman; and, my gut-rejection?

You are too kind. Paglia's been menopausing to the point she seems, to me, to be out of her mind. Used to like some of her work; but, that anthology, why on earth did she undertake the project? She doesn't need the money; she doesn't need the CV-filler; and, she most certainly doesn't need to fix her wooden eye on writing about which she neither knows nor feels an iota (obviously).

Yesterday's noise; yesterday's toys; still going after the eternal ballsy boys, IMO.

What a waste of time and trees. She's a legend in her own crime; long past due-date, IOW. Just wish she'd go away. Sorry; but, why compile an anthology and then go on a steam-cream tear the way she's done? Man! It's enough to make one wanna weep. She's not even amusing as a caricatty cartoon of herself. Sad, sad, very sad. Now, *I'm* being kind; but, I guess I'm hoping she soon finds she's m/utterly lost her mind . . .
