I grew up in the 1950s and early 1960s watching Disney films and TV. I loved Davy Crockett and Zorro, and I liked his nature shows most of all. Uncle Walt was a very good TV host, as I recall.
I was also happy to visit Disneyland in California several times while serving in the Navy in the early 1970s.
I was also happy to watch new Disney films and the old classics with my daughter as she grew up in the late 1980s and the 1990s.
And thankfully I was able to take my family to Disneyworld three times over the years as the kids were growing up.
Now I'm watching Disney's classic films again with my four-year-old granddaughter.
The Disney product has always had high production values, good storytelling, and positive role-models for children (and adults).
So Uncle Walt has been a positive influence on my life, and a positive influence on America and the world.
Disney is an American icon.
