I became inured to this when I was a book-review editor. The situation was hopeless, so I stopped worrying about it. And yes, unread books are starting to pile up in my Kindle.
But isn't there something also soothing and comforting about a neverending to-read pile? A reminder that no one single person will ever capture the entirety of human thought, that we'll never run out of things to learn or thoughts to contemplate? It's very Zen.

ReplyDeleteGenerally, yes. But if you're a book-review editor, the sheer endless flow can be overwhelming.
