Here’s the thing about Pottersville that struck me when I was 15: It looks like much more fun than stultifying Bedford Falls — the women are hot, the music swings, and the fun times go on all night. If anything, Pottersville captures just the type of excitement George had long been seeking.
I, too, have long thought Potter was unfairly maligned.
I, too, have long thought it's a fucking rotten and horrifying thing, this thing called "life"; and, I agree with you about Potter, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks to you and Roger K. Millifluous :).
You know what McLuhan said when someone asked him whether he thought there was life after death, right? (It's instructive to remember, now, McLuhan loved Hopkins, too.)
"Well," he responded, "do you really believe there's any life before death?"
That's *my* Ka-Ching King!
